About

Christ Church, Glasson is a beautiful church in a most picturesque location. Situated within half a mile of Glasson Dock Village. It was built in 1840, adjacent to the Glasson Arm of the Lancaster Canal, completed in 1826. The rear gate of the Churchyard leads onto the towpath. The canal is a popular route for walkers and is teaming with wild life of all kinds. Swans, Ducks, Coots, Moorhens, occasional Herons and many different fresh water fish. The original church building was enlarged in 1932, with the addition of a Chancel and Vestry. The congregation mainly comes from the Parish of Thurnham, which extends from Ashton with Stodday  to the North, almost as far as  the village of Cockerham to the South. Apart from the superb location, our Church is most welcoming to all comers, not least the regular congregation, which encompasses all age groups and  people attend from all corners of the Parish and beyond. The building has some exquisite stained glass windows and other historic features. Our Minister, Reverend Gary Lewis is responsible for churches in the three parishes of Cockerham, Winmarleigh and Glasson.
